Robin’s journey began in April 2016 when she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Muliforme, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Since then, she has undergone brain surgery, followed by 6 weeks of daily radiation and chemotherapy, knowing that bimonthly MRI’s would be the new norm. Her MRI in August 2017 showed a reoccurrence of the tumor. She was put on a clinical trial which resulted in the tumor growing more than half its size. She was immediately removed from the clinical trial and put on a mix of chemo called CCNU and a drug called Avastin. The next MRI showed shrinkage by half, and we were all ecstatic. Unfortunately, the most recent MRI has shown a 40% regrowth of the tumor. Her doctors have moved quickly, and have put her on a new clinical trial, which requires surgery in order to be part of the clinical trial. She begins treatment Sunday, January 28, and her surgery is Tuesday, January 30 at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. If all goes well, she will be home on Saturday, February 3. Thank you for visiting and being a part of Robin’s journey.
