Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
Dad was admitted to the Hospital on October 28th around 3am. He had suffered a stroke effecting the left frontal lobe.
On October 31st he was removed from the ventilator and was responsive to commands and had periods of time that he was awake.
November 1st the team of Doctors determined that he was a candidate for a procedure that would evacuate some of the blood from the brain. By doing this procedure it is one less thing my Dad's body has to do in his recovery. He was ventilated again to protect his airways and again one less thing for Dad to have to do after the surgery.
The procedure was successful and again they removed him from the ventilator. About twenty-four hours after the procedure he taken off the ventilator.
Once removed he seemed to struggle with his breathing. He maintained until Friday evening but he could no longer sustain on his own. On Friday evening November 4th he was placed back on the ventilator.
Dad is still responsive to our voices and has short periods of being awake.
For now he is resting as we continue to meet with his team of Doctor's to determine the next steps.
We decided this was the best way to update family and friends in and efficient manner.
