Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place at this time.

December 22, 2017 Rob had been complaining of shoulder pain and flu/cold symptoms.  He was brought to a local ER where he was told it was muscle strain & sent home.  As the night went on his pain kept increasing so he was taken to a second ER for another opinion.  It was there that the doctor suspected a very rare flesh eating disease was eating at his muscle, "Necrotizing fasciitis".   The disease spreads rapidly within about 24 hours.  For Rob his affected areas that have been worked on go from under his right arm, to his pectoral muscle, to his right thoracic (as deep as his ribs) and to his right hip. This disease eats at your muscle & muscle tissue.  Rob was taken back for emergency surgery for debredment and to remove all dead & infected muscle.  Rob is currently in ICU and being kept under heavy sedation.  He is expected to go back to surgery tomorrow morning (December 24) for further evaluation and removal as necessary.

We are praying the tissue is now healthy but even if this happens he is in for a long road to recovery.   He will need to have multiple surgeries, skin grafts and rehabilitation.

Please keep Rob in you prayers during this time & pray he will have the strength to fight this.   We are hoping tomorrow will show that all infected areas have been removed.

We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
