Bunky Busick "Be Best"

Sunday, July 22, 2018  - Bunky was doing what he loves most, spending time outside with our family.  He was skateboarding with Colt when he fell in our driveway. In that instance, our entire life was turned upside down. He was rushed to University of Maryland Shock Trauma, where I fully expected to walk in to a concussion or an overnight stay for observation.  It took sometime before I was able to see him and I was not prepared at all to see him already heavily sedated and intubated. I could not believe this had happened, such a freak accident....and how could this happen to Bunky? Someone with a complete zest for life.  It quickly became apparent that something terrible had happened. I spoke to so many doctors that night and tried to grasp what was happening.   It was determined that he had suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury with bleeding in several spots in his brain and a frontal lobe injury.  A drain was inserted to relieve the pressure and he was sedated and intubated and remained in ICU for 17 days. We are now on Day 19. 

Welcome to Bunk's Caring Bridge site. We are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place. We cannot express how grateful we are for the enormous amount of love, prayers and support that we have received. I am completely humbled and touched by this outpouring of love for Bunky and my family.  We know that everyone is eager to visit and we will let everyone know when it will be a good time to do so.  For right now, we are asking for patience to allow Bunky the healing time that he needs and that is vital for his recovery.  Thank you! 

To my family and friends, cannot thank you enough for the love you have surrounded me and the boys with during what will likely be my darkest moments.  Keep the good vibes coming, don't know where I would be without you all.
