When you're playing golf, you sometimes yell "fore" ..........but this time I'm yelling "four"! The blunt news is that I have a tumor on the pancreas, and it is likely that I'm dealing with cancer number four. This cancer is a bad one, but there's a bit of good news in that it may be treatable. I was in the hospital for a couple of days of testing (starting September 23) and the tumor is near the head of the pancreas, and that is the area that is potentially dealt with surgically.
Because of the complexity of my history I am going to a larger hospital complex, Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC, near son Will and his family. My initial appointment is Friday, October 6.
I have had no pain or discomfort. This showed up through blood tests and jaundice, which was cleared up by a stint they inserted. I am grateful for having been healed several times, giving me extra years. Sharon has been a wonderfully loving partner in all of this and you have been my good friends. I'd like some more years, but it has been a good life, and I am convinced that God, in Jesus Christ, has something good for us after death.
