Welcome to our CaringBridge website for precious, little Roane. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

At the beginning of April, Isaac and Roane both had a stomach flu/bug.  While both of them improved and got better, Roane was not ever quite back to 100%. He was in the process of cutting four molars though so the low grade fevers he was carrying,  seemed to be what they were stemming from. Approximately a week ago, Roane's fevers started spiking but he was still eating and being playful & happy.   After a visit to the pediatrician to check him, he had an ear infection so again it seemed the fevers were probably related to the teething and now this ear infection.  The pediatrician decided to do bloodwork just to check.  Later that same day, the pediatrician called Su and said they needed to take Roane to the MUSC ER immediately.  The blood work results revealed Roane was in a critical state. This was shocking to Davis and Su, as Roane's spirit and overall demeanor was still the same happy, playful little guy.   Roane was admitted to MUSC Wednesday night, April 19th to begin testing.  On Thursday, April 20th, after a long night and morning of testing, little Roane tested positive for B-cell acute lymphocytic leukemia. On this day he was diagnosed, testing included a spinal tap, a bone marrow biopsy and then once diagnosed they started him ASAP on his first round of chemo.

Davis and Su have found themselves in a different world with this news of Roane's diagnosis.  But if a positive in any of this, there is a 90% survival rate. It is going to be a long 3-year road though until he will be 100% cleared of this disease.  Through all of this thus far, Su said, Roane's spirit is staying strong because he is a fighter.

When I asked how can we all help, she said, all the prayers, thoughts, messages, calls, etc are so appreciated as little Roane goes thru this long journey of treatments to get well.  If you would like to donate to Roane, please DO NOT donate on Caringbridge- as there is a Go Fund Me page setup for donations. Please visit gofundme.com/roanes-regiment.

We will use this page for updates on Roane for everyone to visit and keep up to speed on his progress but if you need to reach Davis or Su directly, their phone numbers are listed below.  Just an FYI, Meghan Whisnant will be authoring this page for Davis and Su narrating & paraphrasing all of Su's updates sent to her.

Thank you again for all of your support to sweet Roane, Davis, Su and Isaac and their family.
