Hello Friends and Family- Just to bring everyone up to speed I have been working with prostate cancer for 11 years. When I was first diagnosed I made a decision to have the prostate removed since it was in an aggressive state. I remained clear for a couple years and when aggressive reoccurrence happened, I was able to do a radiation treatment and remain clear for a few more years. When reoccurrence happened again, I was able to then go on a hormone therapy treatment which managed the cancer for about 4 more years until we reached a point where it is no longer effective by itself.
In March of this year, I had a radical shift with my PSA results and needed to have a bone scan and CAT scan to determine what to do next. Those tests revealed that I have stage 4 prostate cancer and it has metastasized to the bone and lymph nodes in my abdomen. The good news is, chemotherapy ( Taxatore) with Lupron hormone therapy has had dramatic success in clinical trials with my diagnosis. I post this information in the middle of my second round of treatment, with four more in the future. My PSA is stabilized at a good level and looking forward to it dropping down even more to suppress the cancer and potentially heal me. I have to report I'm doing remarkably well with all side effects and work daily with diet, exercise, and spiritual connection. I continue learning many lessons on this journey and the treatment involved. I am grateful for all the thoughtful prayers and well wishes coming from so many. Please keep them coming, they work. I will try to keep you all posted with my progress. Until next time - Kim
