Dear Family & Friends,
In December 2016, I had a brief stay in the hospital where I was diagnosed with diverticulosis.  I was treated and released about week later.  Things were going well, I was on the mend until about 6 weeks ago.  The diverticulosis flared up again and I had to return to the hospital again for a weeks stay.  My doctor advised me to have the position of colon that was infected to be removed or the flare ups would continue and/or get worst.  So on August 7th I was admitted to the hosital for surgery.  The surgery went well, the infected position had been removed.  Again, I was on the mend.  Unfortunately, during the early morning of August  8th, I suffered a severe stroke on the right side of my brain.  The doctors ran a CT scan which confirmed, I indeed had what they referred to has a massive stroke on the right side of my brain.  The doctors were not very hopeful; But God!  On August 12th another CT scan was run; the scan showed the damage was more severe than orginally thought.  BUT GOD!

During this time, I was medicated and in and out of consciences.  Prayer warriors from acrossed the country where in prayer, that God show Himself strong on my behalf.  But more so let His will be done.  So we were still and waiting for God.

On August 14th, a swallowing test was done to see if I could shallow.  I PASSED!  God was moving and answering prayers!

On August 15th, I recieved first meal since before the surgery.  I had grits, biscuits and gravy for breakfast and mashed potaoes and gravy for dinner.
I also started speaking words and names. GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD!!!

I thank you all for standing with me during this journey of my life.  A special thank you to Sister Pat Freeman who has been caring for and staying nights with me.  You are a rock and an awesome friend.  To the nursing staff and doctors caring for me, I thank you.  I know I'm facing a difficult road of hard work ahead, but with God by my side, prayer warriors lifting me up and your continued support; I'm believing God for a complete restoration.

Please feel free to follow this site for future update on my progress and/or leave messages of encouragement.

Love you all,
Rita
