Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Rita was involved in a freak accident in our garage on Tuesday August 10th. She was unresponsive when the rescue squad and medics arrived. They performed CPR and took her to Sanford. She was initially wrapped in cooling blankets, sedated and intubated. She had been rewarmed and is no longer being sedated. She is continuing the process of waking up fully. She has been opening her eyes more each day. Her eyes have been reactive to light. Rita is a very strong woman. She has worked as an ER nurse for over 20 years and helped countless people. It is her turn to receive help. Please pray for her complete and full recovery.  Rita was at Madonna Rehab Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska for about 6 months.  She is now at Dakota Alpha in Mandan, ND.  She is happy and physically healthy.  She still has balance problems and is a fall risk.  She motors around the facility in a wheelchair.  She has to be seat belted in so she doesn't get up and fall.  She is very impulsive and her short term memory is non-existent at this time.  She forgets that she needs help if she's going to get up.  When I take her out of the facility, I put on her gait belt and walk her wherever we go.  Please visit her if you can.  The best time to visit is on the weekends or in the morning during the week.  She has therapy in the afternoons.
