Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On December 6, 2018, Rita was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.  With the tumors located in the Corpus Callosum area of the brain, surgery was not an option.  A vigorous plan of radiation, along with chemotherapy is currently underway.  Rita is persevering through treatment, although each session has taken its toll, leaving her extremely fatigued and weak.  We are looking forward to the last session on February 12th.

Until the diagnosis, Rita was enjoying working full time; acessing patients for two companies, which took her to places all over Indiana.  She loved meeting different people and making friends along the way.  Days were filled with  going to water aerobics, working on her loom or other projects,  reading, gardening and visiting her Club buddies in KY once a month.  Always eager to share her latest juicing recipe, meatless entree find or recent backyard wildlife visit, she was full of energy and the epitome of health!

Since the diagnosis, we have tried to keep a normal routine with some fun in between.  She went on a long-awaited dogsledding trip in Minnesota the week before Christmas - be sure to visit the gallery to see pics!  Recently, Rita went snowmobiling in Michigan with two of her kids, Greg and Peggy and son-in-law Brandon.  It was a short trip, but good she was able to get out and ride.  Rita used to visit the same area years ago and ride across the lake for an annual winter festival.

While we know that our time here in this life is limited, we are committed to making the most of what we have left.  If you are reading this and want to know what what you can do, please send her a note or card to her home.  She enjoys reading them and placing each one on her fireplace mantel.    Please message or email me (email below) for her address.  As always, prayers are welcomed.

****If  you  have pictures of or with Rita and would like them posted in the gallery, please send to her daughter, Peggy at pjbaltz@icloud.com ****
