Welcome to Rita’s CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support, words of hope and encouragement and most importantly your prayers during this time when it matters most.

In early August of 2016 Rita was hospitalized when a routine physical exam revealed very low potassium levels.  This resulted in a variety of undesirable symptoms including water retention (edema and ascites )  and fatigue. Consequently, additional tests revealed that she was in stage three of liver failure.  Additional symptoms and physical abnormalities continued to plague Rita with further hospitalizations which were necessary in order to balance her metabolic panel.  When one factor becomes too high or too low it can cause a variety of life threatening conditions.

In early September of 2016 Rita met with the University of MN Liver Transplant team to be evaluated for a liver transplant.  She was placed on the regional and national list and is now awaiting a liver transplant.

She is keeping Jeremiah 29:11-12 close to her heart as she travels through this journey.  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”
