Welcome to our CaringBridge website for Rick Morrow. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Rick has had rough year, with a massive heart attack in March 2016 and off and on hospital stays since then. He wound up back in a local hospital for several days starting on September 14 because he was having trouble breathing and the initial thought was that it was heart-related. After running tests it started to look as if the liver wasn’t working properly and so he was retaining water, which made him barely able to breathe. His Internist wanted to do a liver biopsy, but since Rick would have to be off Plavix, his Cardiologist disagreed (protocol after a heart attack is to stay on Plavix for 12 month). The newly added oncologist ordered a MRI and PET scan, but Rick was discharged with instructions to have them done within a week. When Rick went home, he was barely able to function and Donna has been his on-duty nurse. Before the MRI and PET scans could be done Rick became too weak, with a high level of pain, to leave the house and had to go back to the hospital by ambulance.
At that point Rick and Donna made the decision to go change hospitals and go to Kettering Hospital because he was treated there several years ago for lung cancer and they were a wonderful help and support for him. Rick came in through the ER and after evaluation, was given a private room fairly quickly. The staff has been wonderful, every question has been answered and his pain is much better with constant treatment. There is a hard road ahead, it looks like there is cancer in multiple organs and it's probably advanced. Please keep Rick and Donna in your prayers.
