Rick Fry

Feb 28, 2017.....Since January 4, 2017 Rick has been hospitalized for a total of 43 days with a 1 week break in-between for nursing home rehab before needing to return to  University Florida Shands hospital in Gainesville on Feb 9.   He was diagnosed with MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome) however that is not his main problem right now but rather an underlying problem that likely triggered other issues / complications such as pneumonia, fluid on lung issues, kidney issues and he currently has a feeding tube and is receiving dialysis as needed.  He has good days and bad days and his condition is very fluid.   We are waiting for his lungs to clear of fluid so his breathing is improved and then hope to grab what will be a small window of opportunity to air ambulance him to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  It is a long journey and a process being worked on.  Jackie is finding it increasingly difficult to keep their multitude of friends and family updated and we have decided to open this caring bridge website as an easy way for her (with a couple friends helping) to update his condition to all of you.  It is also a perfect place for their friends and family to post their well wishes, love and support which are appreciated so much!  Please use this site for all updates and to offer your support.
