Richard had not been feeling well for about a week. On Thursday, July 7th, (David's birthday) he had a heart attack and was admitted to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. He was admitted from the ER, where they also discovered pneumonia, directly to Cardiac ICU. Later that night he had a cardiac catheterization which was only partially successful, and has been on respiratory and cardiac support ever since.
