My Dad, Richie went to the hospital July 13, 2017 after experiencing excessive coughing and trouble breathing. A cat scan was performed and showed a large mass in his lung that has metastasized to his colon, liver, and bones. The diagnoses is Stage 4 Lung Cancer with less than a 2% survival rate. We now start the oncology appointments but have already been told that chemotherapy is not curative. When I asked the doctor just how bad it really was, he said, "It's everywhere." My Dad is 61 years old and unable to work now. He's in moderate pain that his oncologist will work on managing. My Dad planned on retiring in just a few months and had many plans to travel, spend time with family and friends, and relax while enjoying retirement. This sadly, and very abruptly, has been cut short which he is struggling with on top of depression and anxiety.
