Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

It is our hope that this website will be a simple way to update about Richard.
Here is a brief overview:
In April 2014, Rich was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.  He was provided an opportunity through UF Health Shands in Gainesville to undergo a clinical trial which brought him near remission in Spring of 2016. In May, Rich was hospitalized for three weeks at Shands fighting against an aggressive blood infection. In the beginning of August the Maithas were informed his cancer was active again and has been undergoing chemo twice a month.  Through this time, Rich has had severe pain in his stomach due to a pinched nerve from the cancer cells.  He has had two 'nerve blocker' surgeries to minimize the pain with only brief relief. This last biopsy has revealed the cancer has regained its aggression and has metastasized throughout his body.
The Maitha family belongs to a loving, compassionate, and sacrificing community that has kept joy alive during difficult times. Continue to keep the Maitha family, friends, and loved ones in your prayers through this time.  Thank you for all the support and love!
2 Corinthians 1:3-6 "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer."
