Richard Gunderson

Welcome to Richard's CaringBridge website. We are using this as a way to communicate with Richard's vast community  of family and friends. 

Your love, support, and prayers are deeply appreciated. 

Any messages you leave for Richard, will be printed and delivered to him at the hospital. Please know he draws much strength and hope from your encouragement, prayers, notes, calls, and messages.

On Thursday, October 8, 2020, while residing at Valley Senior Living on Columbia in Grand Forks, Richard was diagnosed with Covid-19. He was one of at least 19 residents and 5 staff members who contracted the virus that week (a number that has continued to rise as North Dakota reports the highest number of new cases of Covid per capita in the nation).  

We are not allowed to visit him due to Covid-19 restrictions. All of our reports come from phone calls from doctors or nurses. Most of these journal entries are updates from his medical team, as communicated to Jeanette (Richard's wife) or to me. I am Jeanette's daughter, Maribeth.

UPDATE:
After a most courageous and valiant battle, Richard's body succumbed to the ravages of COVID -19 on October 30, 2020. The many prayers and love Richard and his family received during this difficult time will forever be remembered. As people of faith, we rejoice that his battle is over and he now rests eternal in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless the life and the memory of our dear Richard Lyle Gunderson.
