My dad is at Baylor Heart Health in Denton, TX. This is the same hospital where he had his carotid artery surgery in Sept., and his aortic valve replacement and pacemaker placed in Oct. He was making progress after those surgeries, but started experiencing shortness of breath and pain in his side last week. He was admitted to Baylor Heart Health on Sunday with what looked like pneumonia. After a pretty stable first day and a half, he started going downhill. The fluid on his heart and lungs increased. Today, he has made some progress, with an improved chest x-ray and better oxygen saturation levels. We are still unsure what is causing the infection. He is being treated with antibiotics, steroids, and fluids to try and reduce the fluid in his body.
