Welcome to Dick's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Dick was diagnosed with cancer 2 1/2 years ago, and has fought the disease with everything he has.  Initially he endured an aggressive treatment of radiation and chemo therapy.   Then after a six-month respite,  began immunotherapy - which initially was effective in keeping the cancer from spreading or growing.  Unfortunately, earlier this year that treatment stopped working & he went back to traditional chemo.    He has maintained a positive attitude throughout the entire ordeal and luckily has had few side effects from the drugs.

Within the past two weeks his health declined significantly; he became extremely weak, fatigued and was generally failing.  He was admitted to Methodist Hospital and is being treated for the various symptoms associated when cancer wins the overall battle.

After discussions with the doctors, we have stopped the chemo treatments and are now utilizing the palliative care team to to make him as comfortable as possible.  We anticipate he will remain in the hospital through the weekend, then will reevaluate to determine if he can be released to a TCF or hospice facility.

I will attempt to keep the journal section of this site as up to date as possible- please feel free to reach out to Dick.
