We thought it was time to start a CaringBridge website as Rhys' treatment is changing. We so appreciate all the people that want to be updated on how he's doing...your support, prayer and words of encouragement mean the world to us. Thank you for visiting!
Rhys - In trying to treat/cure an impossibly rare condition called Crystalloid Podocycopathy, ten months of experimental chemotherapy has been a struggle with fatigue, mood disorder, memory loss and mental focus. My oncologist had hoped that the chemo would “do the trick” – stopping my body from creating too much protein and destroying the excess protein that already exists. It seems the chemo has accomplished as much as it is able to, so they have decided now is time to try something else. I begin this new year by preparing for a stem cell transplant.
Many people have asked how they can support us doing this time...please look under the Ways to Help tab for a list of ideas of what would be helpful right now. Thanks!
Please note that donations made to Caring Bridge go directly to the website hosts.
