Rex Harper

First post: Jan 2, 2018
It was a dark and stormy night in early September, 2017, when Rex was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The news was presented to him at his hospital bedside by "Dr. Doom," as Rex referred to him. "You have a cancerous tumor in your pancreas which has spread to your liver. It is incurable."  What Dr. Doom did not know however, is that Rex's indomitable spirit was incurable too. So in some sense you could say (OK, I'll say it) the diagnosis was a wash.

Not to say this has been like taking a pleasant Sunday afternoon drive (in-Rex's-2007-red-Corvette-convertible-that-has-15,000-miles-on-it-and-is-being-sold-for-any-reasonable- offer-over-$22,000). BUT, as one of Rex's friends wrote him: "I thought this quote would fit you best for the person I know: 'True strength is holding it together when everyone else would understand if you were falling apart.'"

Rex HAS been holding it together--through countless procedures, hospitalizations, complications, and grueling chemo treatments.  It's us --his close friends and family, who have fallen apart. But hey, it's not about us. Do know that Rex has his moments, as extreme pain and receiving disturbingly bad news will have their way. But potent meds, prayer, and Rex's own resolve are powerful antidotes.

Please consder yourself a part of TEAM bREXville, whether you live within the city limits of Brecksville, Ohio, or not. Support has no boundaries.

And Happy New Year to all!
