Rene McGraw

On Tuesday, July 6, 2021, Fr. Rene McGraw made the decision, with his care team, to go into hospice care at the Abbey.  This is the result of a bad fall outside on June 12, but really the result of his long-term congestive heart failure asserting itself. The story of all this is below, but the current reality seems more important. Upon arriving back, Rene said to one of his first visitors: "This is the end. I don't know how long it will last—a couple of weeks or a couple of months—but this is the end. I am at peace. I feel loved and very fortunate for being loved." This site will give an option for those unable to visit in person.  Rene cannot use the telephone or a computer himself, and while it initially was impossible for him to read, he is able to now, though someone will have to call up the messages. People can post written or recorded messages using the Well Wishes button or by making comment to Journal articles. If you do visit, if there's an unopened card or letter, feel free to open it and read. (The messages are often heartfelt, so have a handkerchief handy!) The story of the fall is in the first Journal entry (the bottom of the list when you click on "Journal"). Thank you for visiting Caring Bridge, and blessings on you for your friendship, prayers and love for Rene.
