2 weeks ago, mom developed cold symptoms and low grade fevers for a couple days. She rallied for Holly & Ben's Christmas visit and had a negative COVID test. We assumed it was the flu. Then she started having GI symptoms that progressed. By Friday, December 24th, she was feeling quite miserable. Dad took her to Grand Marais ER, where they initiated IV fluids and lab work. Her kidney levels were concerning. They ended up transferring her to Duluth 16 hours later. She was admitted to a Med/Surg Nephrology unit and given initial diagnosis of Acute Kidney Insult. Her kidneys continued to decline and she stopped producing any urine. Her lab work also showed low platelet and hemoglobin levels. Nephrology and Hematology are directing her care.
