Kimberly Johnston Removing Mel

First post: Dec 6, 2016 Latest post: Dec 12, 2016
Most of you know my story...I was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma/meningioma brain tumor back in June.  Since then, I've been on a roller coaster of emotions!  And through extensive research, I have become an "expert" on acoustic neuromas/meningiomas.  My research and consultations with many doctors have led me to USC Keck (Dr. Friedman/Dr. Giannotta) in Los Angeles.  I decided to set up this Caring Bridge site so that I can keep all of you updated on my surgery and recovery and it's in one place.  If I'm unable to update it, I'm sure my daughter will do it for me.

Because I've had extra dizzy spells and balance issues recently, I had to have another MRI done and they found that my tumor (nicknamed Mel)  is growing faster than normal.  So I had to schedule surgery.  It will be on December 6th.  I'm flying out with my daughter, Erin and my mother, Judy on Saturday, December 3rd.  They will be staying right on the campus at USC with me.  My brother and sister will also fly in to join me the day before surgery to be there for me.  I'm also lucky enough to have my best friend Kerri and her man, Fred, come out to check on me right after surgery.  I want to thank all of you for your support and kind words and prayers as I head out to LA and want you all to know that I'm blessed to have you in my life!  Here's hoping for a successful surgery and saying good-bye to Mel !!!
