June 12, 2017 I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive ductal carcinoma. The most common form of Breast Cancer. I found out through tests that my cancer was a Triple Negative and I carry the BRCA 1 Gene Mutation. I also have the PTEN mutation, with these I am at higher risk for getting cancer. Also I have a 50% chance of passing these mutations onto my 3 daughters. Its a real scary thought at times. I have undergone Chemotherapy and had a Bilateral Mastectomy. I am in the healing process now, but it has been a long bumpy road. Medical bills racking up along with our other financial responsibilities have become a real hardship. I have not been able to work this whole time due to treatment and surgery. I had short term disability for 26 weeks but that ended the 1st of the new year. My husband is working hard every week. He is a truck driver and we use to team, now he has to do the routes solo. He has been gone a lot more now with me being out of work. he usually is only home for a day or a day and a half. Then out he goes again. We are hard working people but right now we are just making ends meet. No one really knows how bad cancer effects a person or their family until it hits them. I am trying to stay as positive as I can, because I know this is just temporary. Soon this will all be over and I hope to get my life back again.
I just want to thank everyone for taking the time to read my story, and say thank you for any donation you can help with. Anything helps at this time and it means so much to us.
