About Me, Once upon a time, actually a year and a half ago, I (49 year old female) was still working as a Paramedic. I am rarely ever sick, I eat right, stay in shape, dont drink, dont smoke and dont do drugs. I was injured with a traumatic brain injury, broken back, injured right hip that had to have surgery, and vision problems with my left eye. Well, as that was bad enough, 3 weeks ago I was hurting in my abdomen. It got the the point I was a little short of breath. I waited until Monday (2 days) and went to my local doctor. They ran blood work and an Ultrasound. Based on those results, it looked like I might have Cancer. So, they sent me for a CT (cat scan). That showed even more definitive that I might have Liver Cancer. Then they sent me for a colonoscopy. That came back colon cancer. So, they sent me for a PETscan. That came back Colon, Liver, and Lung Cancer. I guess I could not be simple and have a stomach virus or a kidney stone or something. I went from being healthy (so I thought) to Stage 4 Cancer in 2 weeks. They sent me to an oncologist (cancer doctor). I am facing many procedures leading up to starting chemotherapy on Feb. 23, 2016. Now it has been 3 weeks and the bills are rolling in. They are already over $3000.00 that is my portion after insurance and with many more test to come and biweekly chemotherapy appts. I honestly have no idea how I will pay for this. My daughter suggested a go fund me page. As a former paramedic, I help people. I hate asking for help, yet I do not know where else to turn. If you can find it in your heart to help, It will be appriciated more than you can imagine.
