Reagan "Beast" Smith

Reagan (aka The Beast) was born with several congenital heart defects (CHDs) ; Sub Aoritic Membrane (removed through OHS 2012), Aortic Stenosis and Bicuspid Aortic Valve.  When I was pregnant my OB suspected something was wrong with Reagan's heart at 17 weeks gestation but it wasn't until he was born and six months old that our pediatricians eyes grew wide as he heard the reality of a defect. Initially he thought he was hearing a very loud hole in Reagan's heart, he was wrong.  Despite living with CHDs and a few other medical issues, Reagan has remained an active boy. We bought time for nine years before Reagan had to face open heart surgery (OHS). February 2, 2012 was the longest and scariest day of our lives as parents as well as for the Beast.  We are committed to sharing his story and CHD Awareness but most of all sharing the Hope that comes from Reagan's Journey. Celebrating Life. Celebrating Hope.
