Ray was formally diagnosed in May 2011 with dementia of the Alzheimer's variety. He had been talking for quite some time before confirmation that something was wrong with his memory. In hindsight, there were lots of indicators that I chalked up to oddities with no root cause. His employer was concerned about his safety and put him on short term disability to uncover the reasons for his lapses at work. And so our journey began.
