Hello friends and loved ones of Rashmi and Mita!
As you may know, Rashmi and baby Mita left Rashmi's parents' house this weekend to travel home to Burien and start the next chapter of their lives together.  Having a baby on your own during the best of times is a challenging proposition, and now with the pandemic, it feels scary-- how to do this alone?!

The good news is that Rashmi's community can still help out, even though it might look different than it would have in normal times.  Please visit the planner (basically a calendar) called “ways to help” to find out how you can support Rashmi and Mita.  There you'll find lots of ways to help and offer your support— one big way to help out is with home-cooked food (if this isn't your thing, Rashmi would also welcome restaurant food-- just ask her about her preferences for local restaurants or support with a food delivery service like Grubhub or DoorDash). She would also love help with some
light yard work, basic cleaning (folding laundry, loading dishwasher, vacuuming) and grocery shopping/pick up.  If you’re available to do a task that week, contact Rashmi to choose a day and time preference.

If you sign up for an indoor task such as cleaning, please be prepared to wear a mask and keep your distance in order to keep Rashmi and Mita safe.   Of course, if you've recently been exposed to COVID, have a high-exposure job, or are not feeling well, please choose to stay home.

If for some reason, you've gotten tested for COVID and received negative test results, you might consider asking Rashmi about the possibility of visiting (and snuggling that sweet baby!)

You'll notice that there are not many requests on the calendar from 8/16 to 8/30.  Rashmi's good friend Megan will be visiting from the east coast during this time, and will be helping Rashmi at home.  We'd love  your help before and after Megan is there, in order to smooth Rashmi's transition home and into motherhood.
Always feel free to text Rashmi to ask about best times of day to visit or if the visit is okay that day.  Her number is 206-265-0950.

One note about this site-- sometimes users of the website are asked for a donation and this can be confusing-- sometimes it seems as if the money that you donate might go to Rashmi, but in fact it goes to the site's functioning.  It is free for us to use this site, so your donation is just supportive of the organization that runs Caring Bridge and isn't connected to our use of it.
Thank you!!
