On Sunday, June 4 Randy had emergency surgery at Missouri Baptist hospital in St. Louis. This surgery was to remove a blockage in his colon.  The blockage was from a cancerous tumor (unrelated to his cancer 10 years ago).  A biopsy of the liver was performed at the time of surgery, and we are currently waiting on a pathology report. Healing time from the surgery is roughly 4 weeks. Chemo will be required after surgery recovery.  Since surgery on Sunday he is meeting his daily recovery goals which include walking laps and sitting up. It has been 2 days and he is  having no trouble meeting these goals. If you know Randy well, you know he is a fighter and can't sit still for long! We are handling things one day at a time.  We have created this page because he is a very fortunate man with many, many friends who would like to stay updated. We discovered this page is the best way to do that without overwhelming close family and friends.  As of now he is expected to return home hopefully by Saturday. Thank you to all who have reached out through call, text, visits, and most of all prayers. If you would like to arrange a visit please contact his wife Cindy Shoemaker. We will know more in a few days and plan to update this site.  Prayers are helping us get through each day and very much appreciated.
