Welcome to our CaringBridge website used to update everyone on Randy's status. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We cannot tell you how appreciative we are of your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

I, Jeff, Randy’s youngest, wittiest, and best looking son, was tagged with the responsibility of keeping everyone updated as our family goes through this unfortunately journey. To get everyone up to speed, probably two-three months ago, my dad started to notice a slight memory loss and was having a relatively difficult time grasping for certain words. Personally, I don’t think most people would have noticed anything was wrong, however, my mom and brother were worried about it. Given that Yellow House (my dad’s mom) had Alzheimer’s, we all sort of thought that was the worst case scenario…

Last Saturday, I got a call from my mom. We got the MRI results back, and it showed a golf ball sized tumor in my dad’s brain. To say we were shocked would be an understatement. As of today, the doctors still do not know whether it’s benign, brain cancer, or cancer elsewhere that simply spread to the brain.

On Thursday, 8am, my dad will go into brain surgery, where Dr. Paul Camarata will operate on my dad. From all accounts, he’s the best. I hope he plays like a champion on Thursday...

I speak for my family when I say we are sincerely humbled and graciously thankful for all of the calls, emails, and texts we’ve received over the past week. Family/friends have driven long distances to be with our family and to show our dad that they are here for him. I know for a fact that my dad can barely think about all of this outpouring without tearing up.

The one solace I have is the fact that we, as a family, aren’t scared to show how we feel about each other. We each know, for a fact, how we feel about each other. From a young age, I remember standing at the top steps of our stairway, yelling down to my parents, every single night, before going to bed, “Goodnight! I love you!” My Fort Worth friends often comment on how rare, but awesome, it is that my family always greet each other with giant bear hugs and I Love You’s. I know, for a fact, that my dad knows we think he is the coolest, most badass father any two sons could have.

I thank you again for sending your prayers and well wishes towards my dad’s way. Big Randy is a fighter. Honestly, I feel badly for this tumor…

I’ll be updating this website as we get more information. Please provide any additional well wishes below as I know it'll be a big part of my dad's recovery.  Please stay tuned…
