Many of you know that my precious brother in Christ, Randy Hollingsworth, was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer at the end of 2019. He had surgery to remove two masses and then we learned that the cancer had spread.

Randy has always been a “barnabas” to me. The person that will build you up and not tear you down. Someone who has a dry sense of humor and can make you laugh until your sides hurt.

Randy is also one who doesn’t like to draw attention to himself. We about had to arm wrestle for me to do this caringbridge or go fund me and etc. I know though how loved he is and how much he needs our prayers and support in the days to come (should the Lord tarry).

Randy has been in good spirits but I know has his moments of fear, doubt, and angst over the future. Over wanting to be here for his boys. So let’s fight with him and for him in our prayers. May this be a place of encouragement and a place to keep updated and encourage him with scripture.

Randy is single right now too and has had surgery then had to move and is settling in, which is a lot.

Yesterday he started chemo and had a port put in for his treatments. I am not making this about me, but when I care about people...I really really care and couldn’t sleep the night before his treatment yesterday. I finally got a text from him which I will include as an update. He was at the doctor all day yesterday as two doctors were out with the flu.

Then this: It's been rough, finally home. Got a 46 hour bag treatment left to take at home. Two treatments there and one at home. Got sick they had to pause the treatment for about 30 minutes. Feel better now.

The Lord has given me several verses to pray over randy and here are a few: John 11:4 here where glory is at stake!

When he heard this, Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it."

Please pray along with me the above scripture.
Pray for him as he undergoes chemo.
Pray for him too for strength and for the Lords provision. Also, I know a little goes a long way with randy so if you want to mail him some snail mail to encourage him too, I know it’s appreciated.

The following verses have always helped comfort me over the years. Notice the word “when” and not “if”. We will all suffer here as a result of living on fallen sod and suffering is more about when and not if. Please pray for peace, bolstered faith to believe God no matter the outcome on our way to a more lasting kingdom and a better one! Its my prayer that when we suffer and face multicolored or various trials that we’d at least have a shred of faith in us and do it with some dignity even if we are terrified and remember that His Name is Near.

“But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”

Pray for his mom as she helps him, and his boys (Jackson and Reece). They need their dad.


Also, please check back in for updates and I don’t know where you are in life but I pray that anyone who doesn’t have Christ in their life would come to faith in Christ as a result of Randy’s suffering and desire to Glorify the Lord. His faith hasn’t wavered as he puts his hope in Christ.
