Rudy Chapman Rally for Rudy

December was a month of battling fevers and leg pain.  After visits to the doctor and a leg X-ray, Rudy started 7 days of steroids to help with inflammation in his leg.  The doctors thought the inflammation was caused by a virus.  After the steroids, Rudy was still having leg pain, back pain, and fevers on and off.
We asked the Dr. for a back X-ray to be done and that is where they noticed some bone loss in his pelvis.  We scheduled an MRI in Goshen, but Rudy wasn’t able to lay still enough to get the images we needed.  Since it was the weekend, we had no idea when we could get a scheduled MRI.  Therefore, we decided to go to Riley through the ER and get the ball rolling.  We came to Riley on Saturday, January 13th.  Rudy had a body scan, chest CT, port placed, hip biopsy, tumor biopsy, bone marrow biopsy, Eccocardiogram, chest X-rays, and a pet scan.  On January 23rd, we were told that Rudy has Ewing Sarcoma.   This rare cancer will require a long year of chemotherapy treatments to cure Rudy.
