Rae Matlock-Graham

Welcome to Rae’s CaringBridge website.  Rae is battling stage 4 colon cancer.  I am Rae's sister-in-law and Rae has given me permission to inform and update you all.  I am hoping this site will be a source of information for those who love Rae, and also a place where she can gain encouragement, hope and support to help her along her journey of battling cancer.
Rae had a colonoscopy mid-May.  A large cecal mass was found upon that exam, and it was biopsied.  On May 22 Rae was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer with metastasis to liver and also peritoneum.  There are concerning nodules in her lungs but it has not been confirmed what those are exactly.  Rae got a port inserted and began chemotherapy on Wednesday, May 29.  When she receives chemo a pump is inserted on a Wednesday and chemo is infused until Friday when the infusion is disconnected.  She has received two treatments so far.  She has struggled with low white blood count, low potassium, and is currently hospitalized with fluid on her lungs.

Rae is fortunate to have a very supportive and hard-working wife, Gwen.  Her parents Gene and Gloria are also in Omaha and are very helpful with appointments and support.  Her dear friend Barb is also by her side every step of the way. Our family is trying to support Rae however we can and invite you to pray for her, be there for her and leave her words of encouragement on this page!  Thank you for loving Rae!
