Welcome to Rachel's Caring Bridge website. We are using it as a vehicle to keep family and friends updated and hope you will use it to lift Rachel up with your thoughts, prayers, encouragement, comments of hope, humor and support. Rachel's fight statement, provided to her by a co-workers 3 year old daughter is PUNCH THE DAY! She will punch each and every day of this fight and will not give up!

We are truly overwhelmed by the love shown to  Rachel in the past week since her diagnosis and want to thank everyone in advance for your continued support of her fight against cancer. This has been a tough week but you have provided so many bright spots, laughter and tears of compassion during this week - all things that will continue to be needed as Rachel navigates through her journey. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Rachel was diagnosed, through a biopsy, with tonsil cancer on Friday, December 11th, after experiencing a sore throat on and off since August. She went to Rochester for a full workup on Wednesday, December 16th, and heard the news that the tumor is inoperable. After meeting with the radiation and chemo doctors she understands how hard this journey will be with 7 weeks of radiation and chemo.  Rachel's plan, as of today, is to move to Rochester on January 2nd to begin treatment on January 4th. Brett and Louie will be with her every step of the way and Rachel's mom, Pat, plans to move to Rochester to be with her around the 3rd week of treatment. The prognosis is good but the journey will be hard. The doctors have told her to expect 2021 to be a year of recovery and rebuilding strength. 

We understand that the next part of her journey will be challenging for Rachel but her love of life, trust in God and her ability to find joy in so many things will help her keep going. Your love and support will also help push her over that goal line and for that we thank you!
