Desiring to simplify communication for my dear husband, I created this page so we can update family and friends on my surgery. We greatly appreciate your prayers and warm wishes!
For a quick synopsis: On May 8, I was admitted to the hospital for piercing pain in my right shoulder and entire abdomen. A CT scan and MRI revealed a large cystic mass in my liver which had hemorrhaged. It's currently about the size of a small cantaloupe. (Yes, I had varying symptoms for about two years. And, yes, it's quite hidden up in my ribs. You'd never guess it was there!) Doctors identified the cyst as a biliary cystadenoma and it is believed to be benign (cancer-free). Because these type of cysts are rare, local docs referred me on to a specialist in Indy. We are very pleased with our referral to Dr. Z and his staff! They are skilled, kind, and compassionate.
