Rachel Macchietto

On the early morning of Tuesday, August 31st, 2016 Rachel Macchietto was a passenger on her boyfriend’s motorcycle headed West on Dodge Street in Omaha, Nebraska.  Earlier that evening, she was bowling with her boyfriend Jed celebrating his birthday.  At the intersection of 78th and Dodge, Jed’s motorcycle struck a SUV.  Jed died at the scene and Rachel was propelled over the SUV and additional 35 feet. Evidence indicated that she did a summersault in the air landing first on the concrete on her backside.  Paramedics arrived at the scene a short time later performing CPR while traveling to UMNC Trauma Emergency Room.  We almost lost Rachel that early morning, but she is a fighter.  Rachel sustained a major head injury, broken pelvis, 2 crack vertebras, broken jaw, lacerated spleen, and many bumps, scrapes and bruises.  She is currently on her journey of rehabilitation.
