Rachel went into the ER in July of 2017 for what appeared to be a gall bladder infection. What doctors discovered over the course of a few days, however, was a three-inch mass in the right side of her liver. It was determined to be cholangiocarcinoma, an aggressive form of liver cancer, originating in the bile ducts and often not caught until Stage 4. Upon diagnosis, Jim and Rachel were told that the tumor was inoperable, and that liver transplant was not an option. It has since metastasized and moved to the left side of her liver, and into her bones and and lungs. We are exploring immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and radiation as life-extending treatments, and have visited Mayo for consultations.
We continue to pray for healing for Rachel, trusting always in the promise that God is good and wise in all He does. And so we rest in the Sovereign One who has promised to never leave us or forsake us. We want God to be glorified on this road that is ahead of us.
Rachel and Jim have four children: Alina (11), Nathaniel (8), Naomi (6), and Clara (4). They live in Lino Lakes.
