She was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma ( the most common type of Breast Cancer).
Rachel has such an amazing support system of family and friends who care about her, and I know there is no way that I'll be able to keep people individually updated on her progress, so I will post updates here from time to time so you can visit the site anytime you'd like to see the latest updates. Also, you can write messages of support to Rachel below. Please don't take it personally if she doesn't reply to your messages. We will be a bit overwhelmed with the treatment and healing process, so there may be times that it's not possible for her to correspond with everyone. We want you to know that she loves and appreciates each of you and couldn't find the strength to fight this battle without your support.
We've had so many people reaching out to ask how they can help. We don't feel comfortable asking for hand-outs, but we will be donating 100% of the proceeds from the sales of outdoor gear from our business, Retreat Outside (https://www.retreatoutside.com/shop
), towards Rachel's treatment until she is in remission. If you haven't visited our website before, we sell outdoor gear https://www.retreatoutside.com
). This would be a great way to support Rachel's recovery while also getting a little something for yourself or a friend. Please feel free to share our website with anyone we may have missed. Your support of our business has never meant more as each dollar of profit will go towards her medical bills that aren't covered by insurance, family meals, house cleaning, etc.
Rachel has changed to a vegetarian (and mostly gluten free) diet since she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She wants to do everything possible in her power to get better, and this is just one step. She won't be able to do much cooking while she's receiving treatment, so another option would be a small gift card to HEB, Snap Kitchen, or Whole Foods. We will be using those delivery services a lot over the next months I'm sure.
