Purnima Schachter

Welcome to my CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

I arrived in Vassar ER on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 2 pm and was admitted that evening. The numbness in my midriff was still there but my left hip had begun to flip and I felt this was a dangerous sign. . So I saw my PCP on Friday and he said go home, get ready, and get a ride to the Vassar ER.

After several scans of the spine, an MRI and a CATscan of the neck, I am now scheduled for surgery August 15th in the afternoon. I do not yet totally know the procedure; Dr. Cho, the surgeon, will cut out arthritis that is pinching and distorting the spinal cord at the back of the neck.

From a long view it takes about a month to recover. My oncologist gave her blessings for the surgery. Yes, my "numbers" are good and she feels my chances of staying alive are good.

You are welcome to read this and keep up with my progress or write to the group of us who will get this. My address here is Vassar Brothers Medical Center (Building A), 9 Livingston St., Room 729, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
