This update is long overdue! By God's grace and mercy, thousands of prayers, and the great work of many physicians; Pete's doing really well. The Advanced Prostate cancer which once raged in his body is now "undetectable." While he remains in active hormone treatment, these daily and monthly treatments are keeping everything quiet. Quiet is good, and as Pete goes back to Mayo for scans every 3 months we trust in the steady grace we have come to rest in. God is Emmanuel--with us--and that assurance guides Pete's daily living. We feel such humility and gratitude for the way so many of you support Pete, then and now, thank you. Hallelujah! We love you all.

August 2021
It has been a long, tough month. Over the last few weeks Pete has trudged through a number of procedures, scans, tests and appointments confirming an aggressive, metatastic form of Prostate cancer. As you can imagine this diagnosis has been quite a shock for him. Much like the road closed signs you see everywhere this time of year that cause an abrupt halt to an intended destination. This new reality has been jarring. The image of a barricade seems to contextualize the multitude of emotions that have erupted during this process for Pete. Yet, even in the hardest times, hope rises. There are a number of things that are important to Pete during this time:

1) Pete is rooted in his faith, and greatly encouraged by his Mayo Care Team on this journey! He is ready for a fight and there are great outcomes expected with his treatment plan. It will be a longer road, and he is up for the challenge.
2) Our kids are on their own journey in this time and we ask that you would be mindful to let them open up the door of conversation about Pete's health journey. If they do, listen well and share less words rather than more as a general rule.
3) Prayers are powerful! Pete is grateful for all the prayer that has already been extended, and keep-it-coming! Sending encouragements and prayers on this Caring Bridge are so welcomed right.

Love,
Pete & Melissa
