Preston welcomed September 2017 by falling over 20 feet from a banyon tree on the Big Island of Hawaii.  This was his second week on the job as a tour guide with Mitchell for Au Pair Adventures. Mitchell called 911 and assessed for head and spinal injuries and then  EMSA took over and transported Preston to the Emergency room in Hilo. He was stabilized, had chest tubes inserted (for collapsed lungs), and had his dislocated shoulder reduced. He also  broke three ribs and whacked his right eye requiring some stitchesMeanwhile, Mitchell deposited the girls at a beach, called his boss for backup, and headed to the ER to be with Preston.  The boys were mediflighted to a trauma center in Honolulu (Mitchell was disappointed in his brother for turning down the peanuts inflight).  The next morning Preston had his right femur put back together with a rod and cables and then his large quad muscle was stitched back together because the exploding bone shredded the muscle. I was able to get to the hospital just as Preston was being wheeled back from recovery.  What a sight.  Mitchell was such great emotional support but had to leave on  Sunday. Before he left, though, Preston stood and took two steps with the theme song to Rocky playing-courtesy of big brother. I'll stay with Preston until he can come home for rehab and healing.
Thanks for all the prayers and for checking on our progress.
