Patti Johnston Prayers For PJ

First post: Mar 3, 2020 Latest post: Mar 4, 2020

On Tuesday February 11th Patti Johnston; beloved wife, mother, friend and Founder of Parkers Sisters Ranch was thrown from her horse resulting in a very serious brain injury along with multiple broken bones and contusions.  Emergency surgery was performed and the path to healing paved. And now...we wait.

This accident…it happened fast, so fast.

One moment she was moving through life in her preferred method…atop a horse.  Assessing him, pushing him to the limits in which she was capable in order to see if HE was.

She was carrying out necessary details of her mission. Her work. Gods work. Training a horse so it could help a child. Pushing his limits so young girls could explore theirs. She was guiding, trudging, powering through terrain that most don’t dare to explore and I mean that both literally and metaphorically. When I first heard the news I was angry…so angry. How could this happen? She wanted to start a ranch…a place of refuge for young girls deeply wounded from childhood trauma. She did. She wanted to provide at risk youth with tools for emotional and personal growth using Equine Assisted Activities. She did. And then…she fell…she fell training a horse. She fell doing the work she believed God put her on this Earth to do. That felt so unfair to me. So wrong. But as the days went on and I continued to keep her in my thoughts I realized that that anger was not serving me…or her healing.

She fell doing what she loved. She fell serving. She fell. That’s all. It was an accident…and I won’t spend another moment being angry about it. I will however spend my time in the way she spent hers…in service. For me…that looks like writing, that looks like supporting her son; my dear friend Chris and her daughter Elli, that looks like taking the “updating duty” off of Bills plate and piling it high on mine through this site.

For many it looks like prayer, mucking horse stalls because she can’t or making meals so the family doesn’t have to. Every waking hour of Patti’s life has been devoted to service…in these moments…these moments where she remains "un-awake" I believe it is up to us to serve as she would have.

This page will provide the latest updates on Patti’s progress as well as stories of all the little miracle moments that have and will continue to happen while we await the big miracle…healing. Wake. Up. Patti.
