Phyllis was diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis via a kidney biopsy in November 2019 shortly before Thanksgiving. December was a whirlwind of doctors appointments that ultimately resulted in a consultation at Emory the day after Christmas where we confirmed she was a good candidate for an autologous (self donated) stem cell transplant. She is scheduled to be admitted for the high dose chemotherapy and stem cell transplant on March 24. She will be hospitalized for 2-3 weeks and will stay close to the hospital for 2 weeks following hospitalization before she can go home.
