Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this challenging time.

Philip was diagnosed with stage IV NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) also known as adenocarcinoma, earlier this month. It originally started with a biopsy of an inflamed area of his pubic bone which turned out to have the markers for NSCLC. It appears he has a 5mm tumor in his lung that is not active with a nearby lymph node showing activity. Tests today reveal he has some brain metastases also. The doctors find his case a bit unusual and we hope this is a good thing; it's odd that the tumor in his lung doesn't show activity, which perhaps means that his immune system beat it down. We know this is going to be a rough road, but we also know that Philip is, as our girls say, "a badass," and he has the loving support of all of you. We are hopeful he can beat this long enough for new therapies to develop. Even now, the field of immunotherapy is showing new promise for the possibility of managing this as a chronic disease. Thank you so much for your love and support. It matters more than words can say.
