Today we decided as a family it was time to start Caring Bridge for Philip so that people can more easily be updated on his status.  Today this is Leah writing, but it will be updated by others as days progress.  Grandpa had open heart surgery last Thursday at the Mayo clinic in Rochester; unfortunately  complications  have caused some set backs in the recovery process. He is currently critical in ICU and has been placed on an ECMO machine which is a machine to help oxygenate and circulate blood for him so that his heart can rest and recover a little.  He has been medically sedated since the surgery until yesterday when they stopped those medications. We are currently waiting for him to come to.  He at times will respond to voice but will does not do anything else on command.  We continue to pray and be hopeful that he will turn the corner and start making progress.  We appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers that have been pouring out from all our friends, families, church families etc. that keep pulling for him as well.  He's tough and stubborn and continues to keep fighting.  Will keep you posted as there is more to post.
