In early September Phil started having the feeling of food getting stuck when swallowing. The feeling progressed as did some pain. His primary care physician referred him to his gastroenterologist who ordered a CAT scan. The scan showed an esophageal mass close to the diaphragm. He met with a surgeon who then referred him to a gastroenterologist at Sibley. An endoscopy was performed and the mass was biopsied and determined to be malignant. After meeting with the oncologist a plan of treatment was put in place . This is where the CaringBridge journey begins.
