Pete was diagnosed with Stage 4 small cell carcinoma of the prostate on June 11, 2021. He has had a bone scan, CT scan of chest, abdomen and pelvis, and a brain MRI. Based on those tests he had a biopsy of the lung and bones. Lung biopsy came back benign, although the Dr. believes it is in his lungs, the bone biopsy came back positive for same cancer that is in his prostate. The scans also show enlarged lymph nodes. Pete has started chemotherapy and immunotherapy. His first treatment was July 19th. He will have 3 days in a row of treatment and be off for 3 weeks and then 3 days in a row and 3 weeks off. We have not been told how long this cycle will continue. We have been told the cancer is not curable but chemo should shrink it and stop it from growing anywhere else. He did get dehydrated from the chemo this week and had to get an additional IV bag of saline. We have had a second opinion from a Dr. at Tulane University, he agrees with the Dr. here. Pete was feeling fine before we found any of this out. He went in for his routine yearly physical and the Dr. found a lump on his prostate. He sent Pete for an ultrasound and then to a urologist who then biopsied the site. His PSA continues to be low. Pete continues to be positive and is going to golf on his league tonight! Please keep him in your prayers! 🙏 🙏 😀 😀
