Hello everyone- I’m using caring bridge to keep family and friends updated in one place. Thanks for all the tremendous outpouring of love and support.
Here is the story of how Peter ended up in the hospital:
Saturday April 3rd, Peter and Dave went on a regular mountain bike ride on the trails around our neighborhood. About halfway through the ride, he went on the downhill stretch with three small jumps, on the last jump we think Peter’s bike slipped out from under him and he took the brunt of his crash on the right side of his head and face.
Dave was right behind him and immediately called 9-1-1. The emergency dispatchers were very efficient and helped direct emergency services to Peter’s off-road location. The EMTs ran down the trail to get to him. Our friend Peter Fink was fist on the scene ❤️.
Peter was unconscious, a patrol car tried to drive a fire road to get him, but eventually they had to use a helicopter , and they lifted him up , while still in the air, and then airlifted him to Scripps La Jolla trauma center.
It was a tremendously efficient response, we are so appreciative and thankful for everyone who helped Peter receive care.
