In February 2017, at 68 years old and recently retired, Peter was diagnosed with Stage IV Adenocarcinoma, which is a type of cancer that can form in various mucus-secreting glands throughout the body. In Peter's case, the cancer has formed in his liver and stomach. It has also metastasized and tests show that there is cancer in some of the fat deposits throughout his abdominal cavity. The current prognosis is not good. This type of cancer does not respond well to radiation treatment, and in Peter's case would likely make his symptoms worse. Chemotherapy is also not an option, as it is hard on the kidneys, which are already compromised due to complications from his illness. For now, Peter is home and will be receiving palliative care to keep him as comfortable as possible.
Messages of love and support from family and friends have been flooding in, so we wanted to create a space where everyone can stay informed and reach out to Peter anytime. We appreciate your support and words of encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
